Hey there,
There are several changes that can be resumed in:
1. The software is being opened for third-party collaboration and Chevereto 4 will be released as Open Source software (MIT). No more paid licensing for the base release.
2. Plugins will extend the base functionality. Some will be free, some will be paid. Depends on each developer and I will build a store for both free and paid plugins.
3. Chevereto SaaS aims for those not into the hassle needed to run the software, initially we will try with professional photographers which need to showcase their work and provide digital services to their clients.
4. Chevereto 3 LTS release will be available within this year and it will guarantee that Chevereto will get updates for newer PHP versions and security updates. This release won't charge any extra.
5. Paid license owners will be available to keep using V3 forever or migrate their V3 license to V4 (plugins). This will be in the form of store credit or coupons that grant you cheaper access to plugins as a reward for your collaboration.
I understand that the information is not being informed in the most clear and transparent way, but this is because the changes are still taking shape and that's why we opened a survey two days ago, to understand the customer base and to make sure the changes won't be negative for anyone.
